The 32th Anniversary Princess Grace Awards Gala

On October 8 2014, French Quarter Magazine was present at the awards ceremony of the Princess Grace Foundation, held in Los Angeles where Princess Grace received her Oscar in 1955 for “A Province Girl. »

We were gathered at this annual meeting with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, and the Consuls or Vice Consuls of Monaco from several major US cities such as Los Angeles of course, but also San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami.

Founded 32 years ago by Prince Rainier III after the death of his wife, the actress Grace Kelly, in a car accident, the foundation’s mission is to support artists in the United States in diverse fields such as film, theater and dance and to help them when they are in school until graduation. The winners are awarded scholarships to complete their projects.

Since its creation, nearly “700 talents have been recognized over the years,” said Monaco Info.

A long list of Hollywood celebrities including Eva Longoria, Geena Davis and George Hamilton attended the awards ceremony. Among the winners were twenty young artists from the American Theater Company, New York University, the National Institute of Flamenco and the Pacific Northwest College of Art. In another category, the winners of the Princess Grace Foundation Statue Awards, included ballet dancer David Hallberg and actor Oscar Isaac, who both received the Princess Grace award and actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke, who accepted the Prince Rainier III Award for his entire career in the entertainment industry. He is known for his performances in works such as Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Another form of art was also honored during the evening – fashion. The partnership established between the Princess Grace Foundation and Dior allows a gala cooperation like this held in Beverly Hills this year and in Monaco next year, in September 5, 2015.
