The majority of Champagne’s vineyards are located in the area between the cities of Reims and Épernay in northeastern France. This region is known as the “Champagne region” and it is home to some of the most famous Champagne houses in the world.

Reims is often considered the capital of the Champagne region and is home to many historic Champagne houses, including Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger, and Pommery. The city is also known for its stunning Gothic cathedral, Notre-Dame de Reims, which was the traditional site of the coronation of the kings of France.

Épernay, on the other hand, is located further south and is home to some of the region’s most prestigious Champagne houses, including Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, and Pol Roger. The town is also home to the Avenue de Champagne, a grand boulevard lined with beautiful 19th-century mansions that house many of the region’s Champagne houses.

Both Reims and Épernay make excellent starting points for a tour of the Champagne region, as they offer easy access to many of the region’s vineyards and wineries. Visitors can take guided tours of Champagne cellars, sample different Champagnes, and learn about the region’s history and winemaking traditions.

Le Clos des Roys (http://www.leclosdesroys.fr) is a charming bed and breakfast located in the heart of the Champagne region in the village of Mareuil-sur-Ay. This 19th-century mansion has been beautifully restored and offers comfortable accommodations in a peaceful setting surrounded by vineyards.

The rooms at Le Clos des Roys are elegantly decorated and feature modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and air conditioning. Some rooms also offer views of the vineyards or the garden. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning, which includes fresh pastries, bread, fruit, and homemade jams.

The property also features a beautiful garden where guests can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There is also a lounge area with a fireplace, where guests can cozy up with a book or a glass of Champagne.

Le Clos des Roys is located just a short drive from the cities of Reims and Épernay, making it an ideal base for exploring the Champagne region. The bed and breakfast also offers guided tours of local wineries and vineyards, allowing guests to learn about the region’s rich history and winemaking traditions.
